Freedelity in brief

Get to know the Freedelity team, its founders and the company project.

Freedelity was founded in 2009 when Belgium was pioneering the deployment of the electronic identity card.

"Stuck on holiday, with no connection but with a reader and an ID card, I wondered why we still had so many other cards in our wallet" - Sébastien Buysse

Once the prototype was completed, Sébastien founded the company along with Marc Alagem. The two partners, quickly joined by David Van Tieghem, then set up the company's sales and marketing strategy.

Inspired from the beginning by extensive experience in the ICT field, the objectives were twofold:

Guarantee each consumer secure access to their own personal data and their ability to control the use of this data with respect to direct marketing purposes.

Simplify the life of merchants and help them better know and communicate with their customers.

Since 2009, the company has grown to become a benchmark in the collection and processing of personal data.

The main milestones of this wonderful story are...

2009

Creation of FidelID SPRL, the Freedelity file and the concept of the pooling of personal data updates between merchants and retail actors.

2010

Launch to independent businesses, starting with merchants in Le Havre.

2011

FidelID SPRL becomes Freedelity SA.

2011

First worldwide reading of an ID card on a tablet.

2012

Signature of first contract with a brand with multiple outlets and first integration with a checkout system.

2012

Design of the first terminals equipped with electronic identity card readers.

2013

Other major brands join the concept and help increase the number of consumer profiles managed within the Freedelity file.

2013

Freedelity demonstrates its technological know-how by offering access to government portals via its eID on iPad and Android tablet.

2014

Freedelity celebrates its first million consumers using the system via its network of partners.

2014

Launch of a first version of theFreedelity mobile app allowing consumers to view and control their personal data and enjoy the benefits.

2015

Freedelity registers 2 million consumers.

2016

Freedelity registers 3 million consumers.

2017

A new milestone has been reached with no less than 4 million unique consumers.

2018

May 2018: the new European regulation on the protection of personal data (RGPD / GDPR) comes into effect. The solutions developed by Freedelity prove to be a major asset in supporting compliance for the brands and retailers using them.

2019

b]Launch of CustoCentrix[/b] which becomes an international solution.

2019

Launch of a major new release of the MyFreedelity mobile app, adding among other things the option for its users to completely dematerialise all the multiple loyalty cards that clutter up their wallets.

2020

More than 6 million unique consumers now use the Freedelity system.

2020

Launch of a new major version of the consumer portal under the brand name MyFreedelity.com.
